JTC Privacy Policy

Introduction

We, the Core Members of the Java Tools Community (the "JTC") are committed to respecting your online privacy and recognize your need for appropriate protecti on and management of any information you share with us that may be used to ident ify you as an individual, including, but not limited to, a first and last name, a home or other physical address and an email address or other contact informati on ("Personal Information"). The JTC has established this Online Privacy Policy so that you can understand the care with which we intend to treat your Personal Information.

In general, you can visit the JTC's Web pages at javatools.org without tellin g us who you are or revealing any Personal Information about yourself. If you c hoose to provide us with your Personal Information, we may transfer that informa tion within the JTC, to the JTC's third-party service providers, across borders, and from your country or jurisdiction to other countries or jurisdictions aroun d the world.

The JTC strives to comply with all applicable laws around the globe that are designed to protect your privacy. Although legal requirements may vary from coun try to country, the JTC intends to adhere to the principles set forth in this Pr ivacy Policy even if, in connection with the above, we transfer your Personal In formation from your country to countries that may not require an "adequate" leve l of protection for your Personal Information. In other words, our goal is to pr ovide protection for your Personal Information no matter where that Personal Inf ormation is collected, transferred, or retained.

The JTC does not intend to transfer Personal Informati on without your consent to third parties who are not bound to act on the JTC's b ehalf unless such transfer is legally required.

You may choose whether or not to provide Personal Information to the JTC. The notice we intend to provide where the JTC collects Personal Information on the Web should help you to make this choice. If you choose not to provide the Person al Information we request, you may still access the JTC website, but may be unab le to participate in some of its resources that involve interaction with you.

If you choose to give the JTC your e-mail address, we may communicate with yo u via e-mail. The JTC does not share e-mail addresses with third parties except as discussed in this Privacy Policy. You can choose not to receive any more e-ma il at any time by sending us an e-mail at opt-out@javatools.org.

If you chose to have a relationship with the JTC, such as a contractual or ot her business relationship or partnership, we will continue to contact you in con nection with that business relationship.

Security

Wherever your Personal Information may be held within the JTC or on its behal f, we intend to take reasonable and appropriate steps to protect the Personal In formation that you share with us from unauthorized access or disclosure.

Access/Accuracy

To the extent that you do provide us with Personal Information, the JTC wishe s to maintain accurate Personal Information. Where we collect Personal Informati on from you on the Web, our goal is to provide a means of contacting the JTC sho uld you need to update or correct that Information. If for any reason those mean s are unavailable or inaccessible, you may send updates and corrections about yo ur Personal Information to info@javatools.or g and we will make reasonable efforts to incorporate the changes in your Per sonal Information as soon as practicable.

Third Party Services

Third parties may provide certain services available on javatools.org on the JTC's behalf. The JTC may provide information, including Personal Information, t hat the JTC collects on the Web to third-party service providers to help us deli ver programs, products, information, and services. Service providers may also be important means by which the JTC maintains its Web site and mailing lists. The JTC will take reasonable steps to ensure that these third-party service provider s are obligated to protect Personal Information on the JTC's behalf.

The JTC does not intend to transfer Personal Information without your consent to third parties who are not bound to act on the JTC's behalf unless such trans fer is legally required. Similarly, it is against the JTC's policy to sell Perso nal Information collected online without consent.

Children's Privacy

Javatools.org is not intended for use by children. Accordingly, we do not in tend to collect Personal Information from anyone under 13 years of age.
